UniPi unit is coordinated by Stefano Perfetti, associate professor in history of medieval philosophy. In collaboration with scholars belonging to the AISG-Italian Association for Jewish Studies, he intends to focus on the responsa Moses Maimonides sent to various Jewish communities in the Middle East, North Africa, and France (The epistle on Martyrdom, The epistle to Yemen, The letter on Astrology). In strict cooperation with the colleague Paola Bernardini (Università of Siena), a leading expert on medical theories and natural philosophy in the Middle Ages, he will investigate rational strategies aimed at improving the quality of life and social interactions, on the ground of biological and psychological knowledge. The research will focus on concrete examples of applications of biological, physiognomic, and medical doctrines in authors of the Faculties of Arts.
