Università di Trento.

HOST INSTITUTION

Principal Investigator | Alessandro Palazzo

About the Unit.

The University of Trento is the Host Institution of the project. UniTn unit is formed by four members: Alessandro Palazzo, associate professor in history of medieval philosophy and PI of the project; Massimo Giuliani, associate professor in Jewish studies; Greta Perletti, associate professor in English literature; and Martina Perotta, PhD student in Jewish studies. Relying on the different expertise of its members, the UniTn unit will produce studies on prediction and conjunction astrology (the PI) as well as on the modern developments of prophecy in the philosophical-rabbinical tradition (Giuliani and Perrotta). Perletti will contribute to the unit’s objectives by investigating the survival of the medieval interest in prognostication in early modern culture. She will focus on Shakespeare’s late plays, where the Hermetic tradition is traceable and the regeneration of the character-magus relies on the ability to predict and master the future.
